About the event
You are invited to attend the official dedication and unveiling of new interpretive signage at Neathery Creek, honoring Tony Neathery, widely recognized as the father of the Wetumpka Impact Crater discovery and the first to champion the theory that Wetumpka is home to an ancient impact site.
This brief outdoor ceremony recognizes Tony’s lasting contributions to crater research and the continued efforts to share Wetumpka’s unique geological story. Remarks will be shared by members of the Neathery family, Dr. David King, and the Wetumpka Impact Crater Commission.
Following the ceremony, guests are invited to proceed to the Wetumpka Civic Center for the AL Crater Week Reception, where light refreshments and hors d’oeuvres will be provided.
